MAMA AFRICA
Written by Bruce T. Osborne, Sr. in appreciation, exploration, and confirmation of Black women's resiliency, courage, strength, natural beauty as well as their love of family, Africa, and God.

"My life's driving force is that of my family; my God, my children, and my King (my husband who chose me as his Queen and his protector). In other words, you mess with the bull, you
[will] get my horns."
Look at me in “Black and White.” I am in my raw form as set forth in my humble beginnings in Africa. I was the standard of beauty there — long before the American devised camouflage designed to hide me via the outward make-up and painting of one’s face and body to blend in with the norms of my new world. You cannot hide long before your true identity is revealed. It is not natural, only a temporary disguise.
Who are you? I know who I am! Simply put, yes, I’m Mother Africa and so are you. She created me well and made me strong. Out of the earth I rose, and I continued to rise. I, Mother Africa, created all the coloration of every woman and man you see on earth today. Out of my wound they came as I was told to procreate and spread across earth’s land. I am the strong link to your survival. You can trace me back to the motherland [each and everyone of you].
I, Mother Africa in all my glory, pervading character, and outright indignation: my anger, annoyance provoked by the unfair treatment of a system lacking the true understanding of myself, my beauty, my intellect, and my sexuality. I am beautiful and I know it! … I don’t need anyone to acknowledge me. I love myself despite all of the critics.
I know my true beauty secrets and where my beauty came from as well as all the intricate and significant aspects of my beauty journey. It began with the rich “Melanin” planted in me upon birth. It’s that protective agent divinely placed in me which I passed along to all of you in some form. It’s the natural key to Black greatness.
The substance [Melanin] is also black and for a good reason. It matches your black skin thereby enabling it to absorb Gods light into your blackness rather than reflecting it, making you, the Black woman and creator of life, the guiding light source here in this place we call earth.
Once you understand and realize you and the foundation in which you came from is paramount and all encompassing — you will immediately notice all things are possible — even through the temporary camouflage. The make-up, foundation, lipstick, eyeliner, eyelashes, wigs, etc. They create the temporary standard, but underneath it all is your driving force. Because you are genuine, strong, beautiful and a woman of Mother Africa. You are the true and original standard of beauty.
“I expose my beautiful Black body proudly for all to see my strength, my energy, my Godly light source, and my power absent the camouflage. I am naturally beautiful and all encompassing.”
Historically, melanin was thought to be a “waste product” liken to salt, phosphates, and sulfates, which are eliminated through urine. We were made to believe that we were made as an excretion of God’s plan. That our existence was in the performance of metabolic waste; separated into gases, liquids, and solids. We were made to think we had no purpose in life other than being discarded materials. We, Mother Africa, were misdirected from our true virtue and earthly existence by being called a negative chemical product that is indigestible or unusable by any organism. In this case — and as it has been articulated — me, Mother Africa was secondary to any individual that is white.
We, the Black women for years had absorbed and ingested the false established criteria for beauty until we found the light and truth. The truth of Mother Africa and our rightful purpose here on earth: to spread the Godly gift to mass produce all that we see in human existence, absent the violence and negativity. My father would tell my brothers that they can do and be anything their minds conjured up. He said to them, “You can’t keep a good man down.”
Well… my mother replied that also goes for the women as well. She said, “You most certainly can’t keep the Black women down.” She is the vessel that God made to give the first birth and all subsequent births in this vast place where we struggle to survive (America). Yet, survive we do amid the racism, discrimination, misogyny, and economic inequality. And as for the rich coloration of the “Black Melanin” within me, please know that it is not a deficiency, but a highly efficient substance that absorbs light, therefore making me (the Black woman) the light here on earth. It’s my energy source that can never be taken from me as it is a gift from God!
“I clinch my Black fist unapologetically with anger and distain for those who seek to change or hurt me. I am God’s natural gift to life. It is not the physical retribution you should worry about. It’s my mind and the call to action that’s the danger.”
My Mother Africa gave this gift to me along with its many treasures to control my memory, motivation, dreams, anti-aging, anti-cancer, as well as my auto-immune system and so many other extraordinary attributes. So, now you know my secrets for my beauty, motivation, and power.
The power to convert my light energy into beautiful musical sounds, independence, strength, intelligence, self-confidence, leadership abilities, and my being totally optimistic about the future when others cast doubt. My melanin provides me the physical body coordination and the agility to [win] as seen in track and field, gymnastics, tennis, as well as in all athletic events which I/we are engaged.
It is also demonstrated in “dance movements that are rhythmic at the same time being poetic; pulsating, precise, agile, and unbelievably entertaining. Melanin controls the physical and mental gifts bestowed onto me by the creator of life Himself. With this extraordinary ancient chemical given to me, Mother Africa at the inception of life, I chose to spread its’ Godly gift to all the people throughout the world, (male and female), as I was given free-will. My Blackness and my treasured melanin provide me the ability to alter my state of spiritual consciousness. Thereby, providing me the Godly gift to speak or interpret tongues.
My melanin supports my mental and physical activities, and it helps me to create and maintain my Black cultural traits that matches the chemical properties logged within my soul — Mother Africa’s “Black Melanin.” Accordingly, to my darker counter parts, my “Black sisters and brothers,” when you perform your daily functions at work, home, or recreationally and you see or feel a lack in your cultural norms leading to low motivation, negative social and violent behavior, limited community involvement, a lack in leadership abilities, and others, you no something is wrong.
Please know that you are operating outside of the Godly melanin within you. When this occurs, it is due to your [not] being in compliance with your natural gift. As such, all areas supported by melanin will suffer. Your healthy mind and body will lose its razer edge and perfection. You will see only destruction and a sharp decline in all your Godly abilities—leading to physical and mental disorders. The implanted natural gift of melanin contained within [you] by the Creator, becomes dangerously destructive when mixed with illicit drugs like marijuana, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, amphetamines, hallucinogens, and many more.
These drugs were placed in the Black community to destroy [your gift(s) and harmony with your fellow sisters, brothers, and community]. They ultimately control your destiny. They (illegal drugs) are an evil and highly destructive chemical which through its carnage, one can witness the chaos, disproportionate numbers of murders, and the deterioration of the Black family and their communities across America.
Consequently, my Black Kings and Queens, lets stop the bleeding in our community by refraining from illegal drug usage. Lean heavily on the melanin in [you] as it is likened to a sedative but naturally attached to your blackness, intelligence, physical agility, and creativity. Whereby, providing a relaxingly calm effect which promotes healing, caring, loving, and the development of a civilized society. Just Imagine the positive results! …
As for you, my white counterparts (female and male), “you are not my enemy” but a derivative of me as well. You must refrain from the status building and racism, and join the effort to enhance America and the world through commonsense and humane environmental strategies. We together must build on diversity, and establish equity for all. My “Mother Africa” has left no one out of its’ plan to integrate the world by making us “one extraordinary people of God!” I am the “Sedative and Calming” ingredient that is in position to again to civilize America and the world if you let me. Because I am “Mother Africa,” the creator and guide of the world — with BUTO love! [Read About BUTO Here]
MY NEW AMERICAN CAMOUFLAGE FOR MY EXTERIOR, BUT UNDERNEATH I AM STILL BEAUTIFUL, STRONG, BLESSED, AND MADE IN HIS IMAGE.
By Remy V. Taylor | October 3, 2023
The Make-up that I wear is chemically made and does not enhance my inner-self or my original beauty… only that in which society finds as an acceptable medium for me to exist within its orbit. It is my camouflage for work and going out on the town due to the standard of beauty established by this new world that I now reside. It helps me to fit into a society that has modified human existence on the outside. Having reservation of its purpose, I somewhat understand and accept part of the premise of the cosmetic industry.
“It is an industry which believe makeup can alter one’s perception to the world — making one more appealing and confident. However, one must always be conscious of the fact that your real self lies within your heavenly body, and if you are not satisfied with its existence [first], you will never be satisfied or complete!”
“Black women today live in a world of trends and peer pressure to assimilate into the ruling class. Fortunately, resilient as we are, Black women have adapted, accelerated, and created their own unique style while forging a business partnership with the cosmetic industry—especially with those businesses that understand Black women and their specific needs. The industry didn’t recognize Black women until they joined in and began the process of creating makeup blends to complement Black women’s uniquely designed features and their diverse skin tones.”
“And yes, the newly designed makeup for Black women makes them feel and look good [whether in black and white or in full color]. By casting Black women’s exterior image in a more “commercially” driven and radiant light matching the establishment. However, Black women completely understanding where their real power comes from — which is Mother Africa’s melanin. That is our real self and motivation toward being triumphant in life.” Its that deeper drive or authentic self that guides Black women toward success and fulfillment. This “real self” is tied to our purpose, core values, and inner motivation.
Thank you, Iman Cosmetics for your wisdom and foresight, as well as Fenty, Beyonce Cosmetics ltd, Uoma Beauty, Pat McGrath Labs, Mielle, Adwoa Beauty, and companies like Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, Revlon, Sephora, Clinique, and all others who came aboard to direct attention toward Black women’s cosmetic needs.
These products are extraordinary and helps some Black women with their skin conditions resulting from an irregular climate and the environmental hazards [created by humans]. And although the melanin protects my skin from wrinkles by acting as a natural barrier to damaging ultraviolet rays, you and your creative products helps to increase that protection, as well as help me to not only look my best, but help me to physically shine as I adapt to this American culture of beauty.
Finally, let me recapitulate the number one factor comprised of my beauty. It is the natural beauty that resonates from within myself and reflects on the outside from my Godly gift of the protective rich melanin before the makeup. The makeup I wear does not underpin myself. It only adds a temporary top foundation to my existing beauty for the new culture.
I am always cognizant of the fact that when one totally accepts who they are as a person, everything else is icing on the already beautifully made cake. Your real self is who you really are as an individual. Therefore, standup for your Blackness boldly and proudly!
Unapologetically Me.
I stand for every Black woman or little girl in the past to currently in America. I can feel the pain, the screams, the suffering, and the tears running down my ancestors’ face as they stood strong, struggling, and fighting relentlessly against the injustices brought to bear on them and the many other captured sisters and brothers from the Motherland.
Although part of me is mixed due my forebears harassment, brutal punishments, and being forced into unwanted sexual encounters with deranged and sick monsters lacking the true understanding of the love, decency, and compassion that every family deserves. Yet, I am still and always will be physically connected to you my fellow “Nubian Queens and Kings” wholeheartedly — as you are my blood, my family, and so are all my brown, red, white, yellow, and all other humans who reside on this great planet.
As I/We, the Black family are the originators of the human race and its multifaceted colorations of skin tones, making all of us one. We must stop the tribal wars and come together as was divinely intended to save this planet and all inhabitance before it’s too late. With BUTO Love! [Read About BUTO Here]
